Every year, Aide financière aux études makes file-appropriate documents available that beneficiaries may need for their tax returns (RL-1, T4A and letters attesting to payment to Aide financière aux études). These documents can then be attached to the individual’s tax return.
No documents available in your file?
If no documents are shown in your Student Financial Assistance File for a given taxation year, it means that no loan to bursary conversion, loan remission, bursary overpayment repayment, interest payment on your outstanding student loan debt or payment as part of the Intern Perseverance and Success Scholarship for Various Programs in Education, Health and Social Services took place during the year.
Aide financière aux études issues the following types of tax slips:
- Relevé 1 (RL-1, employment and other income) and T4A
Throughout the academic year, you receive the full amount of student financial assistance awarded to you as a loan. After the last payment takes place at the end of the academic year and following an income check with Revenu Québec, the government repays your financial institution the part of your financial assistance that corresponds to the bursary to which you are entitled. This is called the loan/bursary conversion.
The amount shown on your Relevé 1 or T4A tax slip is the amount converted to a bursary, the amount of a loan remission, the amount of a scholarship received as part of the Québec Perspective Scholarship Program or the Intern Perseverance and Success Scholarship for Various Programs in Education, Health and Social Services.
- Tax slip - Bursary overpayment
This letter confirms the amount you paid to repay any bursary overpayments.
- Tax slip - Student loan interest
This letter confirms the amount you paid on accrued interest on your student loan debt to the Collection Department. Please note that this amount does not include interest payments on a student loan further to a court decision.
“AMENDED” If Aide financière aux études needs to change your tax slip, the word “AMENDED” will appear on the new slip, which replaces the former slip and/or any previous version you may have printed out. You need to keep the new slip and use it for your tax return.
